Popular GPS trackers Smart produced by Navtelecom company has built-in Bluetooth module. It can read the data from wireless Bluetooth sensors. Here is how to connect wireless fuel level sensor Eurosens Dominator Bt to the Smart GPS tracker.


1. Server data protocol settings

Open Smart configuration and switch ON  level/temperature and Frequency fields on the Protocol settings/RS-485 tab.

2. Setting up the RS485 interface.

Although it looks strange because we don’t use RS485 with wireless sensors but actually Smart GPS sends bluetooth fuel level sensor data to server in same data fields with RS485 fuel level sensor. So to configure data protocol we have to switch ON the necessary number of RS485 fuel level sensors. For example, our sensor will be recognized as virtual fuel level sensor on RS485 line (address №6).

3. Searching the Bluetooth sensors

Open Bluetooth tab and click Search for device type : sensors. After 1-2 minute you will have a full list of bluetooth devices nearby. Eurosens sensors are displayed as  MECHATRONICS DOMINATOR with its unique ID :  MAC-address.

4. Adding the Bluetooth sensor

Smart device can support up to 4 Bluetooth sensors (4 slots on the screenshot). We add new sensor as Sensor2 (for example). Copy and past sensor’s MAC-address and set the type of sensor : FLS. If you have several Dominator BT sensors nearby you can check serial number vs MAC-address using  Eurosens Dominator BT configurator.  This Android App and manual you can download from Eurosens Dominator Bt product page.

5. User parameters

Some sensor parameters cannot be sent in the field of usual LLS-fuel level sensor. We will send them as user parameters (3 x 1byte). Choose any free slots:

6. Reading sensor’s data

On the Flow and fuel level sensor tab we can see actual values coming from the sensor.
